CHERAS LEISUREMALL CELEBRATES MID-AUTUMN BY RELIVING THE 70/S MID-AUTUMN GOODNESS & ROCK THE MOON CONCERT


The splendor of the 70's Mid-Autumn festival comes alive as Cheras LeisureMall pays tribute to the greatness of the 1970s, a time when communities came together ever so often to participate in festive celebrations, especially in villages. Vibrant and colourful, crowds throng the village square amidst the soft glow of lanterns and brightly lit surroundings. This awe-inspiring, heartwarming scenario is recreated at the Cheras LeisureMall ‘village square', and patrons are invited to have a wonderful experience and relive the spirit of the 70's Mid-Autumn Festival from 14 September to 7 October 2017.

Among the major highlights is the much-anticipated Creative Lantern Making Contest 2017, which is bigger and more exciting than before since its last installment in 2013 with total prizes worth over RM46,000 to be won! Held since August 2017, the contest was open to all aged 15 and above whereby participants had to create their Mid-Autumn themed lantern masterpieces adorned with animal characters. The amazing prizes include OGAWA wellness products, Platform Cafe dining vouchers and Cheras LeisureMall cash vouchers.

The contest is a test of consummate skills and ingenuity as entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, workmanship and finishing, lighting effects, eco-friendly aspects, choice of materials, theme proximity and overall presentation. The illustrious panel of judges comprises Mr. Phillip Wong, Board Member of National Visual Arts Development Board; Mr. Chin Wan Kee, Professional Sculptor Artist/Sculptor Senior Lecturer, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College; Ms. Tan Yar Shi, Creative Arts Lecturer, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College and Mr. Stanley Woo Wai Yip, Senior Lecturer in 3D Animation, Dasein Academy of Art. These magnificent Mid-Autumn lanterns will be available for public viewing at the Lower Ground and Ground Floor Concourse from 10 September to 8 October 2017. Results will be announced in October 2017 and the Prize Giving Ceremony will be held on 7 October 2017 (Saturday), 2.00pm.

The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration continues with an explosion of sounds on the night of October 7 as Cheras LeisureMall invites all to party with a cavalcade of stars who will set the night ablaze at the ‘Rock The Moon' Concert. Korean Superstar, Hwang ChiYeul joins a star-studded line-up of entertainers including popular songstress, Sing China finalist, Jeryl Lee, Astro Star Quest 2014 Champion Uriah See, Pop
Group Thomas & Jack, zest singer Jie Ying Tha, award-winning actress Crystal Lee and hip-hop artistes CLM ALLSTAR to give you a rollicking fun time!

Members of the public can get a pair of entry passes and be part of the concert to celebrate the Mid­Autumn festival over the roundest moon when they shop at the participating outlets in Cheras LeisureMall. VVIP passes are redeemable with a minimum of RM600 spent in a maximum of two accumulated receipts, VIP passes are redeemable with a minimum of RM300 spent in a maximum of two accumulated receipts, Zone R passes are redeemable with a minimum of RM50 spent in a single receipt. Besides the magnificent display of these giant Mid-Autumn lanterns, over 1,000 childlike fantasy lantern artworks submitted by school students during the Children's Lantern Art Contest held in August 2017 are also on display at the concourses and Level 2 Link Bridge from now until 8 October 2017. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite children's lantern artworks which they think should win the best accolade.

Customers can also drop by the Mooncake and Confectioneries Bazaar held from 14 September until 4 October 2017 at the LG Concourse, where they will be spoiled for choice with the array of irresistible and mouth-watering mooncakes and delicacies featuring a variety of flavours, preparation and presentation. These are among the favourite selections from Qian Yue Ting, Casahana, Baker's Cottage, Yong Sheng Gift Shop, JDX, Yu-Ai, Bee Cheng Hiang, Setapak Teochew Restaurant, Tai Thong and Milky Way. These delectable mooncakes will sure make perfect gifts for friends, associates and family.

Cheras LeisureMall is also hosting many more cultural and festive activities in conjunction with the annual Mid-Autumn festivity, such as Children's Lantern Art Contest from 16 September until 1 October, Crystal Agar-agar Mooncake Workshop on 23 September, and Parent & Child Traditional Lantern Making Workshop on 30 September. Gamers and those who love a challenge are in for a heart thumping experience when the Halloween Super Play Match - Nerf Gun Game Session takes off this October.
