[Coverage] Comic Fiesta 2016 : Taking Anime, Comics and Games to Greater Heights

Comic Fiesta 2016 is back with games, comics, and animation! The two day convention was held at Putra World Trade Centre garnering more than 45,000 attendees. With an extensive list of fun activities for both days including panels, gaming events and live stage shows, Comic Fiesta has become a must-go event for illustrators, comic artists,  cosplayers and fans. Started back in 2002, Comic Fiesta has made its mark on to the ACG (Anime,comics & games) scene in Malaysia by bringing the fans closer and celebrating the ACG culture together.


Comic Fiesta organizing committee chairman, Mr Lim Chin Hwa shares "We are thrilled to see that the awareness of the ACG culture has grown tremendously in Malaysia and we hope to continue delivering a succesful Comic Fiesta convention that will always be for fans by fans".

At Comic Fiesta, there are 400 artist booths and 50 different unique exhibitors in which the public are able to purchase handmade artworks. Presented by AirasiaX, with the support of Funplus, iflix and Gameview as platinum sponsors, Comic Fiesta offers a wide variety of activities.This year's line up is extensive ranging from local performers such as 5 Minute Heroes and Ocean of Fire to international cosplayers, SiuTao (Hong Kong), Miu (Vietnam), Onnies (Thailand) and Stayxxxx (Taiwan). Illustrators EvaComics and Zeen were also invited to Comic Fiesta to share their knowledge. 

The convention also offers live performances for music lovers including Yuyoyuppe, Japanese music producer and singer-songwriter who is known for his work with BABYMETAL; and Kradness, Japanese singer well-known for his high toners and covering and remixing popular contemporary Vocaloid songs. Japanese indie pop band f'hana performed on the first day of Comic Fiesta. Additionally, lead game designer (Culture Team) of FINAL FANTASY XV - Wan Hazmer had a special Square Enix presentation. Danny Choo, creator of the popular Culture Japan programme also participated in the event, bringing him a wide range of merchandise for fans to purchase. 
Speaking about his vision for Comic Fiesta 2016, Comic Fiesta Event Director, Mr Hew Shih Chien, said, "We were very much inspired to create a unique ACG culture that blends in with our Malaysian culture and our love for Japanese pop culture as well. Through Comic Fiesta, we hope to instill a culture where ACG can provide a positive impact to our live". 

Comic Fiesta 2016 also saw a wide range of activities such as Pokemon Game Championships, butler and maid cafe by Le Petit Fox, arcade competitions such as Street Fighter 5, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 with various stage games, panel talks and night concerts performed by local performers and F'hana. The convention concluded with a special closing performance by Kradness and Yuyoyuppe.
